The Castaic High School Women’s Empowerment Club received a $4,500 donation from Cars2Charities to go toward two breast cancer charities Saturday afternoon.
At the school’s library on Saturday Teresa Deutsch with Cars2Charities presented a check to the Castaic high school club.

According to 17 year-old Kylie Price, the club’s founder and president, the funds from the check will go to two breast cancer charities that connect with the club. The donations hit close to heart for Price, whose mom experienced cancer.
“I learned a lot about women’s healthcare and how severely underfunded it is,” said Price, who was inspired to create the club after taking a Women’s Studies course at College of the Canyons. “Being the president of this club, it was a moral obligation to be giving to charities that support women’s healthcare.”
The money was collected through the Cars2Charities program, where cars are donated and the money goes to charities. Deutsch, a commercial fundraiser for the program, said that the decision to hand over donations to the club was very “dear to her heart.”
“I’m a big proponent of taking care of your health and giving back,” said Deutsch. “We’ll continue on with this relationship for as long as they [the club] would like to have it.”
The donations are set to go towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation through different local charities.
“One of the best ways to combat this disease while we don’t have a cure is prevention education and awareness,” said Price.
