Michelle Littlefield, 19, and Brian Lewandowski, 18, were killed on their way home from Disneyland one minute past midnight on Saturday when their car was struck by a UPS truck that flipped over the median on the I-5, north of Triggs Street.

The truck overturned after being hit by one of two cars that were suspected to be involved in a street race. The driver of the UPS truck, Scott Treadway of Mira Loma, also died in the crash.

Littlefield, an accounting major, and Lewandowski, a computer science major, were each enrolled in four classes at College of the Canyons.

“All of us at College of the Canyons are grieving the loss of Michelle and Brian,” said College of the Canyons Chancellor Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook in a statement. “Their deaths leave a void on our campus, in the classrooms, and among their friends. I know they will be greatly missed by their teachers and classmates as they remember the relationships they had with Brian and Michelle, who were bright, caring and committed people.”

Van Hook continued, “I know they will be inspired by the moments and memories they created and shared for others as they worked hard to be the best people they could be. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who cared for and loved these two amazing young people, especially their parents. We are better because they shared them with us.”

Stevie Leonard, a friend of Littlefield, described her as “so sweet.”

“Michelle was a vivacious and loving person with a promising life ahead of her,” according to the CrowdRise page. “Any amount gifted will be deeply appreciated and will ease the enormous heartache at this time.”

Lewandowski is survived by his parents, Jocelyn and Victor Lewandowski, and two brothers. His father is a homicide lieutenant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
