Beginning as a patrol in Canyon Country, deputies with the Crime Impact Team arrested two on charges including resisting an officer, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and more.
Peter Garcia and his girlfriend Monica Cova were arrested Wednesday in Santa Clarita on multiple charges, according to Natalie Arriaga with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.
Garcia was approached by deputies on the 17900 block of Sierra Highway after being identified as having an outstanding warrant for his arrest. According to Arriaga a brief struggle ensued when deputies tried to detain him.
Deputies then learned Garcia was staying in a motel on the 17900 block of Sierra Highway with Cova.
“Deputies contacted the suspect’s girlfriend and learned she was on active probation and possessed narcotic paraphernalia inside the room,” said Arriaga.
According to Arriaga, deputies found a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine, narcotics paraphernalia, two firearms, one of which was loaded, and heroin after searching the room. A search of a vehicle belonging to Garcia resulted in the recovery of pepper spray.
Garcia was arrested for charges including resisting an officer, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Cova was arrested for charges including possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance.
Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station and remain in custody at this time.
