Deputies are investigating a possible assault with a deadly weapon call in Newhall Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Around 3 p.m., deputies received reports of an assault near Horseshoe and Hacienda Lane in Newhall, said Lt. Ignacio Somoano with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We are investigating a possible assault near this location,” he said.

Initial reports were that two men were pointing a rifle at people near the location, according to officials.

The two suspects are described as male Hispanics in their early 20s.

Deputies are still actively searching the area for the suspects, according to Sheriff’s officials.

No evidence of shots fired has been found as of Tuesday afternoon, however, the investigation is still ongoing, Somoano said.
