Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are searching for a wanted suspect in the Jake’s Way area after he was lost in a foot pursuit. 

(UPDATE: 5:22 p.m.) The suspect is now in custody.

At around 4:30 p.m. Thursday a deputy engaged in a foot pursuit with a suspect near Jake’s Way and the railroad tracks. 

Deputies are actively searching for a wanted suspect along Canyon Park Boulevard and Jakes Way in Canyon Country. A containment has been set up and @LASDHQ Aero Bureau is assisting with the search. The deputy called for backup before losing the suspect on foot. 

A containment was set up along Canyon Park Boulevard and Jake’s Way as deputies gathered to search the area for the suspect, according to a tweet from the SCV Sheriff’s Station. 

“Please avoid the area,” stated the tweet. “We will provide an update once the area has been cleared.” 

Initial reports described the man as wearing all black and a black mask with a red backpack.

As of Thursday 4:45 p.m., the suspect has not been located.
