Officers transported 22-year-old Santos Elizondo, from Los Angeles, to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station, where he was booked on suspicion of making a false report of a bomb, according to arrest records.

“We received a call on Friday for a reported bomb in a car that was on the side of the road,” said Officer Josh Greengard with the Newhall CHP Office.

When responding officers arrived on scene, the suspect allegedly told them that there was a bomb in the car, which had broken down on the shoulder of the 5 freeway near Weldon Canyon Road.

No bomb was found, Greengard said, adding the man may have been suffering from “mental issues” at the time.

“Because the report was false, he was arrested,” Greengard said. “We encourage people not to make false reports like this one.”

Elizondo’s bail was set at $20,000. He will appear in court Tuesday for an arraignment hearing.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
