Littlefield and Lewandowski were killed on their way home from Disneyland one minute past midnight on Feb. 27 when their car was struck by a UPS truck that flipped over the median on the I-5, north of Triggs Street.

The truck overturned after being hit by one of two cars that were suspected to be involved in a street race. The driver of the UPS truck, Scott Treadway, 52, of Mira Loma, also died in the crash.

The suspected street racer, Dealio Lockhart, 35, of Whittier, is being charged with second-degree murder in addition to other counts.

“(Michelle) was an extraordinary human being, full of love and (care) for other people,” said Gigi Littlefield, Michelle’s mother. “She was always trying to do her best in every aspect of her life… I’m going to try and pursue the dream that my daughter had, (which is) to make a better world.”

Littlefield not only tried to improve herself in every aspect of her life, but she also tried to help her friends improve, according to her mother.

“(Michelle) taught me what it was like to be close to someone. It’s because of her that I am who I am today,” said 19-year-old Christian Quebral, a student at College of the Canyons and a friend of Littlefield. “She didn’t drink, she didn’t do drugs, but still knew how to have fun all the time. If you knew her and if you hung out with her, if you (talked) to her, you (would) see she knows how to have a good time, how to live a good life.”

Littlefield, an accounting major, and Lewandowski, a computer science major, were each enrolled in four classes at College of the Canyons and both worked at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Lewandowski is survived by his parents, Jocelyn and Victor Lewandowski, and two brothers. His father is a homicide lieutenant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The Lewandowski family issued the following statement regarding the loss of their son:

“Brian was an incredible young man and every parent’s dream for a son.  We are absolutely devastated by our loss. Our hearts go out to the other victims and their families and our prayers are for the survivors’ recovery.  We are very thankful for the love and support of family and friends throughout this time.”

Gigi Littlefield said she does not have any anger toward the man that allegedly killed her daughter, Lewandowski or Treadway.

“I think their conscience will talk more than what I can tell them,” said Gigi Littlefield. “They maybe don’t see the pain, maybe they don’t care, but I know in their conscience, they’re going to think.”

The viewing and funeral service for Michelle Littlefield is scheduled for 11 a.m on Tuesday, March 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 24443 McBean Parkway in Valencia.

Her graveside burial and dedication will follow at 3 p.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary, located at 23287 North Sierra Hwy in Newhall.

A rosary service was held for Lewandowski on Wednesday, March 2 and his funeral service was held on Thursday at St. John Baptist De La Salle in Granada Hills.

  1. It is such a shame that two such beautiful young people with such bright futures can be taken away by such selfish inconsiderate people that don’t live by the laws of society. My heart go out to the families and friends of both of these beautiful kids. Our prayers to the kids and their families and the hopes that they can survive this tremendous loss and find the will to carry on in life. God bless you.
