Deputies are currently searching for a potential arson suspect near Canyon High School in Canyon Country.
Around 9:44 a.m. Friday, a call went out for a small brush fire on the 19000 block of Nadal Street between Whites Canyon Road and Camp Plenty Road, according to officials.
“It was reported as a 10 by 10 small spot fire,” said Joey Marron, inspector for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire was put out around 10:20 a.m.
The person who made the call said there was a suspicious person near the incident, prompting deputies to set up a containment.
“We have a containment set up and we’re looking for someone that was pointed out to us,” said Lt. Leo Bauer with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Although the containment is in proximity of Canyon High School, it is not on lockdown, according to Sheriff’s officials.
Be advised, deputies are in the area of Long Shore Park and Canyon High School looking for an arsonist suspect. Any information, please call the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
Canyon High School is not on lockdown and we have multiple units in the area.
