Fostering Youth Independence Hosts Annual Holiday Party

Fostering Youth Independence (FYI) held its annual holiday party for 50 local Santa Clarita foster youth supported by the non-profit organization.

The party included a buffet breakfast, sleigh-building contest and gift bags for all the youths provided by donations from the community.

“It was such a special day for all of us,” said Carolyn Olsen, FYI’s Executive Director and Co-

Founder. “After the Covid hiatus forced us to miss our last holiday get-together, it was wonderful to safely be together again to celebrate the season with our youth and those who care about them.

Held at the Fellowship Center at Christ Lutheran Church, the theme of the party was “PJs and Breakfast Grinchmas Party,” with all youths wearing matching pajamas, and many of the adult supporters with their pajamas as well.

The week following the holiday party, a friend of FYI offered a new dollar-for-dollar match for all donations up to $10,000.

“FYI’s original matching fund goal had just been met, so we were elated when this new

opportunity was gifted to us. This now means that contributions between now and December 31 will enable donors to make twice the impact for our foster youth with their gift,” said Olsen.

According to Olsen, the majority of donations go directly towards crucial programs and items that will support the youth.

  1. It has become obvious that KHTS is part of the companies that work on the project of removing everything related to CHRISTMAS. There are no holidays, there is Christmas and you will never succeed in changing that. And I am not even a Christian, but it makes me sad that you use our only radio broadcast platform to promote this agenda.
