A group of people gathered in protest of recent vaccine and mask policies in a “Freedom of Choice” rally in Valencia on Friday.
Advertised on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, the rally took place on the corner of Magic Mountain Parkway and Valencia Boulevard in front of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The rally advocated for the freedom of choice when it comes to COVID-19 vaccines and masking. The state of California recently passed a policy that requires school staff and teachers to provide proof of vaccination or be tested weekly, adding on to a past policy that required the same from state and healthcare workers.
“I believe people have the right to choose, it’s an inalienable human right,” said Marysol who was present at the event. She works as a nurse and expressed concerns about the policy related to healthcare workers. “They’re wanting us to either vaccinate or have a weekly test for COVID. If that’s the case, for how long are we going to get this testing, when is it gonna stop?”
Many of the rally go-ers which included men, women and children, held up flags and signs protesting these policies. A table was also set up selling goods like bumper stickers and hats.
“I’m supporting these healthcare workers who want their right to free choice,” said Ed Heinemann.
Heinemann also expressed his opposition to the vaccination policy and weekly testing by school staff and teachers.
“We shouldn’t have to be mandated, we have free choice. This vaccine has not been approved,” added Connie Ziglir.

George Washington instituted mandatory vaccinations in the 18th century. The US Supreme Court has confirmed their constitutionality several times, because the collective greater good outweighs individual rights.aka common sense.

However, the Mount Vernon Estate has this to say: “While Washington believed wholeheartedly in the efficacy of inoculation, in May of 1776 he ordered that no one in his army be inoculated; violations of this order would result in severe punishment.”
BTW, inoculation and vaccine are different things. The first vaccine (and indeed the word itself) was invented in 1798, one year after Washington died.

I’m confused by all this hullabaloo. This isn’t new. I’m in healthcare, I had to show proof of immunization in order to be around patients. I have to get TB test every few years. Kids can’t start school without certain immunizations.
Please exercise your freedom of choice by not seeking medical care.
