High-Speed Motorhome Chase From Santa Clarita Ends In Crash Near Tarzana

A high-speed chase that started just after 7 p.m. Tuesday near Towsley Canyon has ended in the San Fernando Valley after a dramatic pursuit involving a stolen motorhome.

Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station first identified the vehicle and began pursuit southbound on The Old Road until California Highway Patrol took over.

“We got the call around 7 p.m. from the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s who were behind a stolen motorhome,” said Officer Brandt with the California Highway Patrol. “We picked it up somewhere on the westbound 118.”

The unidentified driver was seen with their two large dogs in the front area of the vehicle, one of which fell out of the vehicle during the pursuit.

The stolen motorhome was seen hitting other vehicles during the chase, which included driving in opposing lanes as the driver attempted to evade law enforcement, according to officials.

CHP officials responded to at least five other incidents involving other drivers on both the freeway and surface streets, according to Brandt. The driver also damaged multiple parked vehicles, according to officials.

At one point, the vehicle sideswiped a tree, taking exceptional damage to the right side of the vehicle in the process, including the loss of the majority of the vehicle’s windshield.

The chase finally ended near Tampa Boulevard and Wells Drive after the vehicle collided with a car entering a driveway, sending the stolen motorhome into a tree.

The driver then attempted to flee on foot alongside the remaining dog, but was quickly subdued by law enforcement officials.

The identity of the individual, as well as the extent of any injuries caused by the pursuit, are currently unknown as of 8 p.m. Tuesday.

  1. Really. How are the dogs?

  2. This is so sad but frankly l feel California should brace itself for more and more of this kind of crap as we over populate cities, bringing way more Welfare recipients than our country than the average Tax Payers can truly handle! Our Homeless and Drug Crises is an embarrassment all caused by the evil Elitists! But this was destined to happen and a Bigger Plan is in Place…thank You Heavenly Father for your Peace that Passes Understanding as we head into these hard times and Let Your Justice Reign!
