In-home Hospice Care Discussed By Officials From Traditions Health Hospice

In-home hospice care was discussed by Jim Holloway, Vice President of Operations in California for Traditions Health Hospice, and May Ronci, executive director of the Traditions Health of the Lancaster office on KHTS Radio in Santa Clarita.

Holloway explained that in-home hospice care is for anyone who is in a situation in their life where they are given a prognosis of six months or fewer to live.

“The ideal here is to focus on comfort, dignity, control … our goal is to provide that,” Holloway said.

Holloway explained that both his mother and mother-in-law were in hospice care and that when he was young his father passed away from pancreatic cancer after spending the last three weeks of his life in the hospital.

“I think knowing my dad if somebody had came to us and said he could go home and have his dignity … we would have jumped on it,” Holloway said.

According to Holloway, in-home hospice care can make a person’s end-of-life as special as it can be.

“I view the death just as important as the birth and I think with hospice it allows the patient to choose how they progress through their journey in life,” said May Ronci from Traditions Health Hospice.

Ronci explained that in-home hospice care is there to help a patient and their family choose how they progress through their journey through life.

“With hospice it allows comfort … dignity and really bringing back quality of life to the patient especially when we can manage their symptoms so well,” Ronci said about Traditions Health Hospice’s in-home care.

“Having hospice, especially in a home setting, allows them to be with their loved ones at that very pivotal time for their lives,” said Ronci.

Holloway said, regarding in-home hospice care, that “we believe it’s not just a job, it is a calling.”

Ronci explained that in her upcoming show on KHTS Radio that she hopes to explore what hospice care entails and what it means to patients and their families.

Ronci went on to say that she hopes to bring on guests to the Traditions Health Hospice show from related fields to share their experience with patients receiving hospice care.

  1. There’s no dignity when BIG Business hospice ODs its patients on continuous morphine & starves their patients to death. Invisible Holocaust Hospice article- ‘ Lonely and abandoned, such patients exhibit blank, ghoulish stares reminiscent of concentration camp victims. If they will not die soon enough, some nursing homes ( & in home hospice agencies) even call in hospice workers to facilitate premature death. Many residents experience hospice at its most lethal, receiving no food or fluids, increasing dosages of morphine and sedatives, until a patient’s life is snuffed out.‘ Bugger off Big business hospice.
