On weekends from June 7 to July 6, children have the opportunity to play and learn the importance of health at an interactive exhibit held by LEAP Children’s Museum.
This is the second annual event held by LEAP, an acronym for Learn, Explore, Act, and Play, and is taking place at Valencia Town Center every Friday (except July 4), Saturday, and Sunday up to July 6, on the patios in what used to be the Disney Store.
“[The exhibit] is centered around health,” explains Kari McCoy, President of LEAP. “In the first area we have physical health, nutritional health, and then mental health. In each area, different career paths are explored, but really the kids are just able to learn in a fun way.”

Within the different sections are a variety of activities for children aged 2 to 8, giving them the chance to act out different medical careers with toys and costumes.
In one section, a child can play nurse and “inspect” their parents’ blood pressure, while in another they can don a white coat and look at teeth the way a dentist would.

This “Healthy Heroes Play Lab” gives participating kids a chance not only to act out different medical careers, but learn the importance of taking care of themselves as they grow.
“It’s a good way to get out of the heat, and feel good as a parent,” says McCoy. “We’re just trying to give our community a space where kids can play and learn.”
LEAP’s summer exhibit is open 9 am to 4 pm on those previously mentioned days, and is $5 per person (though children under 2 are free of charge!).
