The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency, (SCV Water) is set to host a virtual gardening class, “Irrigation Basics for a Sustainable Landscape” Saturday teaching those with a green thumb on how to design and operate a “successful” irrigation system.

The virtual Irrigation Basics for a Sustainable Landscape class is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, from 9 to 11 a.m., according to SCV Water officials.

“Successful irrigation systems match your landscape with the types of irrigation your grass and plants need,” SCV Water officials said.

The virtual class is set to be lead by John Windsor, a certified arborist and a California certified nurseryman, according to officials.

He has been a horticultural advisor in the Santa Clarita Valley for the last 22 years.

Windsor is expected to teach irrigation system design and operation basics including drip irrigation and new high efficiency spray technology, according to SCV Water officials.

SCV Water is set to host a free virtual class once a month lasting for approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

“Classes will focus on the topic for 45 minutes to one hour, followed by a question-and-answer session at the end,” SCV Water officials said.

All presentations are recorded and available for viewing on our SCV Water’s website one week after the live class.

Participants are also set to be able to download the presentation, according to officials.
