Twisted Colossus is a revamp of the “iconic woodie” — construction crews are putting a steel track on the already existing wooden Colossus structure, according to Magic Mountain spokeswoman Sue Carpenter.Six Flags Magic Mountain officials expect construction on Twisted Colossus to finish soon, they said Friday, during a walking tour of the park.

Constructing a roller coaster from some parts of an already existing roller coaster presents unique challenges because it takes a lot of adapting, said Bruce Thompson, construction manager.

There are about 50 construction employees working on the coaster on any given day, Thompson said.

Magic Mountain officials will be releasing when the ride will open in the next few weeks, Carpenter said.

The coaster will have four trains, each with six cars, Carpenter said. A total of 24 people can ride in each train and three trains can be running at once. Each train will be a different color — orange, purple, blue and green.

  1. Twisted Colossus looks SO AWESOME! I’ve been reading construction updates from different sites all year. I love scream’s new colors, I just think that TC’s paint will fade very quickly. It already looks like the green side is starting to fade.
