Next month, the 12th annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will bring together Santa Clarita’s political leaders and community members, with former congressional candidate William J. Federer speaking at the event.

The annual event has been scheduled to be held at the Hyatt Regency Valencia on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at  7:30 a.m.

Federer is a nationally known speaker, author and president of Amerisearch, Inc., a publishing company. He produces “Bill’s American Minute,” a radio feature that is broadcast daily across America via radio and online. His “Faith in History” television series airs on the TCT Network on stations across America and via DirectTV.

“It’s always been simply about praying for our community, praying for our leaders,” said Joe Messina, the chairman of the event. “It’s not political at all.”

Messina said that the breakfast was not just for those of Christian belief, likening it to a community event.

“Every year, we get people of non-faith that show up,” he said. “We don’t speak against any group. It’s not what we’re there for.”

The event will feature Federer’s talk, as well as patriotic music and finally, a prayer for the community.

“We have people pray for different segments of our community,” said Messina. “Our seniors and youth, our first responders and educators and our leaders.”

The annual event has been scheduled to be held at the Hyatt Regency Valencia on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at  7:30 a.m., taking place at the same time as thousands of similar events in the U.S.

“It  happens across the country,” said Messina. “There’s 6,500 of these that happen that morning across the country under different names.”
