Silvia Gutierrez was chosen for the position after a monthlong interview process with the Bridge to Home board of directors.
“We created a board selection committee,” said Hunt Braly, the chairman of the board, “back in September, when we knew this was happening.”
Advertisement for the position began in January, with qualified candidates participating in a phone interview shortly after. From the phone interviews, eight contenders for the position were invited in for face-to-face interviews.
From these interviews, Gutierrez was chosen as the most qualified to lead the organization.
“She has a lot of experience with homeless services,” said Braly.
Gutierrez comes to Bridge to Home from a series of administrative positions with other homeless service providers in the Los Angeles area.

Bridge to Home is looking to expand in the coming years, and Gutierrez looks forward to helping scale up the services provided by the nonprofit.
“The organization has done so much,” she said. “And my role is to support them as they continue.”
Her role as executive director will become official when she takes office on April 1.
The end goal, she said, was to create a “larger, multipurpose facility and expand services” to the homeless population of Santa Clarita.
Outgoing executive director Tim Davis said in a previous interview with KHTS that he was extremely happy to have worked in Santa Clarita.
“It was a pleasure working with the Santa Clarita community,” said Davis. “There are so many nice people here, and it’s hard to express the pleasure it’s been working here.”
As Santa Clarita continues to grow, the head of Bridge to Home must step up to meet new challenges.
However, the organization’s board of directors believes they have found a candidate ready to meet the challenges as they arise.
“We feel very confident going forward with Silvia,” Braly said.

Thank you to Tim Davis for your years of service and caring for the homeless population here in the SCV. For years the problem was largely ignored until it became so big, one couldn’t miss seeing the homeless on street corners and in the wash. Tim has been compassionate and methodical in growing the services available to our community. May his retirement be sweet and may he rest well in knowing that he did much, for so many. Welcome to Ms. Gutierrez, please let us know how we can best support you as residents in the SCV.
