Newhall Burglary Suspect Arrested After Kicking Down Door Of Victim’s Residence

Deputies arrested a Newhall man Wednesday afternoon on multiple felony charges, including burglary, after he allegedly kicked down a door to a person’s residence, officials said.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the 24500 block of Chestnut Street in Newhall regarding a person with a knife, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The call originally went out as a person with a knife, but there was no knife,” Miller said. “(The suspect) had a metal golf club.”

The suspect allegedly entered the victim’s residence by kicking in the door, and made threats to the victim, according to officials.

The suspect also allegedly used a golf club to damage the victim’s vehicle.

Deputies arrested Salvador Ocampo, 25, of Newhall, on felony charges of burglary, vandalism and criminal threats.

He was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where bail was set at $50,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
