Footage of a Newhall lottery ticket thief was captured using a security camera Monday night, and detectives have released the video in hopes of identifying the man, officials said.

Around 9 p.m. Monday, a man that detectives describe as a “male black adult in his 30’s” entered a gas station on the 23900 block of Lyons Avenue, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The man partially goes inside the entrance in the footage, and then grabs a nearby display of lottery tickets and runs away.

After investigating the scene, detectives received security footage from the night of the incident, and released it to the public on Tuesday night via the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Facebook page.

“Detectives are hoping the video will help someone in the community identify the perpetrator,” reads the post.

The file number community members can refer to for the case is 919-05877-0629-083.
