A low-pressure system is set to bring colder temperatures and up to two inches of rain, said Bonnie Bartling, a weather specialist for the National Weather Service.
“There will be periods of heavy to moderate rain with a chance of minor debris flows,” Bartling said.
Winds are expected to be around 15-20 mph, with temperatures ranges from the mid-50s during the day and low 40s at night Thursday, Bartling said.
Temperatures are expected to be back in the 60’s by Friday.
Even though the storm is predicted to be a cold storm, the Grapevine is not expected to get snow.
“Snow levels will be above 8,000 feet,” Bartling said.
The National Weather Service is tracking another smaller storm system that could bring rain to Santa Clarita Saturday.
“It is only a 20 percent chance of rain, and it is will only last for Saturday,” Bartling said.
For those who live near the recent burn areas and are in need of sandbags, they can be located at most fire stations throughout Santa Clarita.
