Although the lodge has garnered the reputation as a top Montana fly fishing resort, Sampson noted their guides are happy to cater to all experience levels.

“Whether you’re somebody who’s fly fished the world or somebody who’s literally never seen a fly rod and reel … everyone’s welcome,” he said. “If you’re a beginner, come on up. You don’t need a darn thing; rods, reels, waders, all your tackle — everything’s included. You’ll have a pleasant guide who’s been with us for years that will teach you how to do everything.”

About 35 percent of the guests at Ruby Springs Lodge are women, Sampson added.

“We’re very proud of that,” he said. “It’s a place where anybody can come and feel comfortable.”

Experienced fly fishers, beginners and even those who aren’t interested in fly fishing can take advantage of the opportunity to get away and relax in the tranquil setting of Alder, Montana.

“It’s relaxing, it’s decompressing, it’s getting away from everybody, it’s looking at the surroundings, it’s seeing wildlife,” Sampson explained. “What we see is our customers come up with tight shoulders and they leave looking relaxed and ready to recharge and head back to the real life.”
