Local Santa Clarita delivery company WeGo, Inc. is offering free delivery on food and other products in response to the impact of coronavirus on the local community.
To access the free delivery offerings, visit their website, WeGoSCV.com, or download the “WeGo SCV” app.
“Please help support our local community by ordering from local restaurants and choosing the local delivery company that serves them,” said WeGo, Inc. Spokesperson Noah Alvarez in a statement.
In addition to offering free deliveries, WeGo officials assured their drivers are taking a number of precautions by offering no-contact deliveries and drivers are wiping down their phones, steering wheels and hands on a regular basis.
Contactless deliveries involve the service dropping the goods at the porch and informing the customer of its arrival, so there is no person-to-person interaction between the drivers and customers.
Other national delivery services have also implemented contactless delivery options, including Postmates, UberEats and Doordash.
Additionally, several of these services have taken steps to ease the burden on independent restaurants.
UberEats has waived delivery fees and commission fees for independent restaurants, while GrubHub and Seamless have suspended commission fees for independent restaurants.
Beyond delivery services, some major restaurant chains have made a variety of offers available to expand access to delivery service.
Chipotle is offering free delivery on orders of $10 or more from March 15 to March 31, and KFC currently has free delivery through their website, GrubHub or Seamless.
El Pollo Loco has free delivery at participating locations through GrubHub from March 25 to April 7.
Popeyes is offering free delivery on orders made through their app or website, and Del Taco has offered free delivery on Postmates through March 20 with code DELTACONOW and will make free delivery available on all orders over $15 after March 20.
