In addition to raising $803 dollars in a tip jar designated for Triumph Foundation donations the club served an extra 100 meals.
“We have never done a tip jar before at all because we are a nonprofit and money we get from the breakfast goes back into the foundation,” said Dave Reeves, Santa Clarita Rotary Club member.
A fire at Edd’s Mini Storage devastated the local nonprofit on June 25 when it ripped through a storage unit which housed over 50 care packages and supplies.
“Once the tragedy happened to him, we decided to do a tip jar,” said Reeves. “We decided we are going to do it every year and honor a different nonprofit foundation.”
The Santa Clarita Rotary Club was founded over 50 years ago and aims to give back to the community.
This year the club’s foundation was able to give six, $1,000 checks to nonprofits in Santa Clarita.
“Rotary [members] are big givers and that’s what we are all about, service above self,” said Reeves.
