“The rain is over for the most part,” said National Weather Service official Scott Sukup. “About a quarter inch of rain has fallen, and there are only some scattered showers predicted.”

Though the flash flood watch was scheduled to continue until noon on Friday, Oct. 28, the storm system weakened as it approached areas in the Los Angeles area, according to the National Weather Service.

As the weekend continues, there is a 30 percent chance of showers Friday, and a 20 percent to 30 percent chance of rain estimated for Saturday, Oct. 29. The chances of rain will soon increase on Sunday, however, as the possibility of rain will grow to 50 percent to 60 percent before tapering off again into the beginning of the week.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has also issued a No Phase mud and debris flow for this storm system. The no phase level places a warning that the anticipated amount of rain and watershed would not be enough to lead to major amounts of debris on streets or public infrastructure locations.

Hardly any structures are considered endangered, and firefighters are patrolling burn area, but both the LA County Department of Public Works and the LA County Fire Department advise residents to be prepared should the weather worsen.
