A committee from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station selected two employees to honor for their contributions to the station, at Tuesday’s Santa Clarita City Council meeting.

Captain Robert Lewis of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station instituted an Employee Recognition Program where a committee made up of sworn and professional staff select two employees each month, one sworn member and one professional staff member.

The two employees chosen this month are Deputy Robert Garcia and Custody Assistant Manuel Ramirez.

Garcia works in the Training and Scheduling office, and is in charge of scheduling patrol deputies for their shifts at a facility that has to be fully staffed 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Sheriff’s Station officials say that fellow deputies respect Ramirez’ work ethic and his calm, professional manner in a high stress environment working with both inmates and staff.
