Santa Clarita Volleyball Players Earn Four All-CIF Selections

Four Santa Clarita girls volleyball players were announced as selections to this year’s All-CIF teams on Monday, according to CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS) officials.

The selections included West Ranch’s Allison Jacobs, Santa Clarita Christian’s (SCCS) Vanessa Gracia, and Trinity Classical Academy’s Nicole Amoroso and Paige Kim.

Jacobs, who signed her national letter of intent committing to UCLA in November, helped lead the Wildcats to claim a share of the Foothill League title with Hart.

“Allison is the greatest volleyball player to ever come through this valley, and among the greatest athletes to ever come through as well,” said West Ranch Volleyball Head Coach Jamey Ker. “Her contributions to this program, to this valley, and to this sport are incalculable.”

The senior outside hitter led her team in kills and digs with 381 and 169, respectively. She also chipped in 21 blocks for the Wildcats.

“Besides her dominant athletic presence, she is also the fiercest competitor you will ever meet, who has a knack for inspiring those around her. Truly the perfect package you are looking for in any athlete” Ker said. “The sky is the limit for a girl like that when she moves on to the next level and plays with other players of her caliber. Her peers will challenge her physically, but UCLA will be hard-pressed to recruit another player with more passion and competitive drive than Allison Jacobs.”

Trinity Classical Academy made a deep run into the Division 8 playoffs this year until they ultimately fell in the championship game to Oakwood in four sets.

The playoff run was the deepest in Trinity’s history, and while they weren’t able to claim the title, they couldn’t have made it as far as they did without their two All-CIF selections, setter Nicole Amoroso and libero Vanessa Gracia.

Rounding out the four selections was SCCS senior Vanessa Gracia, a senior libero.

SCCS had a solid season, as they finished third in the Heritage League, but were bounced in the quarterfinals of the Division 8 playoffs by St. Bernard High School.

As these seniors continue onto the next phase of their athletic careers and lives, they undoubtedly leave big shoes to fill for their programs.
