“This is just one more demonstration of how the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber is representing a diverse and growing business community,” said Musella. “We have created one of the most diverse board of directors in the organization’s history and I believe it positively reflects the changing community and world we live in.”
While also being a well-respected business leader in the community, Musella has also made his mark on the LGBT community through serving as the chairman of Log Cabin Republicans California, the largest statewide Republican LGBT organization in the nation.
As chairman, Musella is credited for the organization’s historic recognition by the California Republican Party and for amending the party’s platform to be more inclusive of the LGBT community.
Musella lives in Valencia with his husband, Ivan Volschenk and owns his own public relations firm, The Musella Group, representing an array of high-profile businesses through offering media relations, community relations and more.
“Since I began as president and CEO of the chamber, I’ve had the priviledge to see John work tirelessly for our business community this year,” said Lois Bauccio, president and CEO of the SCV Chamber. “He will be a great asset to the chamber, the city and the entire valley as its 2017 chairman.”
Musella will be installed in the position of chairman at the Installation and Awards Gala Friday night at the Tournament Players Club in Valencia.

Explain to me why a gay person gets to the front of thr line. Why does everyone have to know he is gay?
I could care less about a persons private sex life, but when I hear GAY, I automatically see two men doing unnatural things. Our seniors and children don’t need to hear this. I know I am not alone in this line of thinking and people should demand that we are tolerable and to stop ramming it down our straight throats. If he/she can do the job then it really doesn’t matter. But if he can’t do the job and is only kept in place because of political correctness than to hell with our conservative community.
I was thinking the same thing. Who cares, just do the dang job correctly with honest.
I was thinking the same thing. Who cares, just do the dang job correctly with honesty and integrity. Discrimination based on sexual orientation is illegal, hiring someone from the lbg community shouldn’t be headline news.
I don’t really care what or who you choose to be intimate and share your life with in the land of the free. But I do feel there is a big and increased influence by the lgbt community in our youth to try the abnormal out because its the cool new fad now to be openly gay or bi as my teens call it. And this concerns me because I’d rather my teens wate until those college years before taking a ride on the wild side.
I trying to figure out if the City is bragging or warning us about this event. I don’t condone Homosexuality, but, with respect to this individual and all the other People in the spotlight that are seeking recognition, I believe it only adds to the spectacle when orginizations go out of their way to announce when they add or finally add someone they point out are different. Did this person request this to be pointed out? If so, it only adds to the oddity.
Glorying in what they should be ashamed of! Sad days in America.
Congratulations, John. You are an asset to our community. Thank you for your dedication and tireless work for the betterment of Santa Clarita.
THANK YOU for representing ALL people in our local government. I am proud to call this city my home and to raise my children in a place that celebrates diversity.
John seems to be highly qualified and respected in the community. Im glad to see our local government recognize his talent and abilities and support diversity as well. I chose to move to Santa Clarita 33 years ago so that my children would live in a safe Community with good schools. I am so grateful now to know that my grandchildren will grow up in a community that respects, celebrates, and represents ALL.
Congratulations to the Mr. Mussela and the Chamber for seeing the need to represent and recognize the diversity of our valley and society. All underrepresented people should be reflected in the leadership of organizations such as this. Thank you!
I second what Courtney wrote! I am so proud to raise my girls in such a diverse community. Thank you!!!
Thank you to the Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce for choosing such a well qualified chairperson! Our valley will be well served. I am also proud to live in a city that does not discriminate based on sexual orientation! I want my future grandchildren to know that diversity makes us stronger.
Sounds like John is the right guy for the job and will continue to be a major asset to the growth and prosperity of our city. His success will be our success. I wish him nothing but the best!
Congratulations, Mr. Musella! I am so proud to live in a city that provides equal opportunities to qualified candidates regardless of sexual orientation. Thank you, Santa Clarita Chamber, for showing that ALL PEOPLE are valued in our community.
