Second Annual Remembrance Of Pedro Javier Roman

A second annual remembrance of former Valencia High School football player Pedro Javier Roman, who died due to leukemia in 2021 is scheduled for the end of January.

Roman was a 17 year old Valencia student who lost his years-long battle against leukemia in 2021. He was described by loved ones as “a true warrior and fighter.”

After this death, hundreds mourned him and came together to honor his life. Studio 7 Foundation was formed in his memory, an organization to  help children through a Leukemia diagnosis. During his treatment, it is said that Roman often connected with other children in the cancer ward, comforting them even through his own pain.

He was a one in a million kid,” family friend Alana Altmeyer said. “He had the looks and everything of a cool kid, but on the inside he was the most genuine compassionate person ever. Even when he was fighting for his life, he was texting and telling people how bad he felt for the other kids in the hospital. He was an amazing soul.”

In 2022 a memorial ride was put together in his name, with many in attendance. This year, another one is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2023. Donations are encouraged, as the event is also a fundraiser for organizations that help kids with leukemia.

The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. at Vincent Hill Station in Acton.
