“These businesses are truly the backbone of our economy,” Wilk said, referring to companies with 49 or fewer employees.

Each month, Wilk promotes small businesses in the 21st District with his Business of the Month award.

His most recent “Wednesdays With Wilk” video recognized several of these small businesses, such as Wolf Creek Brewery, and noted about 95 percent of businesses in the state have 49 or fewer employees. The businesses are chosen not just for their customer service but for community service, as well, he said.

In addition to recognizing their community efforts, Wilk has also sought to create partnerships, such as a self-defense program for women that he’s encouraged at several different gyms.

“Please join me in commending these entrepreneurs,” Wilk said, who give so much to our communities.”
