SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off organizers joined representatives from the local charities  Thursday for the check donation, successfully raising $31,000 for local animal rescue charities at the 2019 event.

The 2019 SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off was held at the Oaks Club in Valencia on March 21, and  one chef placed in the top three in two different competitions during the event.

This year, over 45 chefs competed for the People’s Choice prize and the Judges’ Choice prize, according to officials.

Proceeds went to two local animal rescue organizations: Shelter Hope Pet Shop Santa Clarita and St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary/Lange Foundation, according to officials.

Dogs from both organizations were also at the event in a successful effort to get them adopted, according to officials.
