Sheriff’s Civilian Oversight Committee To Host Town Hall In Newhall

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Civilian Oversight Committee is set to host a town hall in Newhall at the end of February, giving residents an opportunity to voice their opinions on public safety.

The town hall meeting is set to provide a public forum where residents are encouraged to address commission members and leaders of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with how they feel about public safety in Santa Clarita, as well as their experiences with the station.

Various County departments, including the Department of Public Social Services, Project Lifesaver/LA Found, and Mental Evaluation Teams from the Department of Mental Health and LA County Sheriff’s Department plan to host resource booths with information on community services.

In 2016, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors implemented the Sheriff’s Civilian Oversight Commission with the mission to improve public transparency and accountability with respect to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The meeting will be held in Hart Hall at the William S. Hart Park on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 5:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m.

Registration is not required to attend and parking is free, according to officials.
