Soroptimist Offers Grants For Women Seeking Financial Assistance For Educational, Training Expenses

The Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley is set to offer several cash grants to women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families and are looking to continue their education or vocational training.

Since 1972, the organization’s main program, “Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women,” has provided about $30 million to women who want to achieve their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families, according to officials.

Women who seek financial assistance can apply for the cash grant from now until Nov. 15.

Recipients can use the grant to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. The grants can be used for a variety of purposes, including tuition, books, childcare, carfare or any other education-related expense, according to Soroptimist officials.

The organization is set to provide several cash grants starting at $1,000, with one recipient being chosen to advance to the Soroptimist Camino Real Region level for the chance to earn an additional $5,000. The program culminates with $10,000 awards for three finalists.
