“A young boy, age 8, was on a hike with his dad,” said Lt. James Duran from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “It was not an airlift rescue, but the boy did have a broken leg.”

The incident was reported at 10:42 a.m. and the pair was located on a trail a quarter mile off of Copper Hill Drive at 10:52 a.m., according to Inspector Richard Licon of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Licon confirmed that the boy sustained a broken knee while hiking, but could not confirm whether he was transported to a nearby hospital by emergency officials.

The circumstances of the injury were not available Friday afternoon.
