Etienne Juarez Rosas, 25, of Winnetka, is now due back in court Feb. 8, when attorneys from both sides will meet to set a court date within about a month.
The status hearing was part of the legal process to determine whether Etienne Juarez Rosas, accused of pushing a woman into a car and sexually assaulting her, is capable of assisting in his own legal defense in a trial
Rosas was initially arrested on a rape charge in November 2015, however, delays in the defense pushed the trial date. A jury trial was expected to begin in October, when the public defender’s office transferred the case and his new attorney declared a doubt on Rosas’ competency.
Both sides then had to evaluate Rosas, and a judge determined he was capable of defense.
Rosas is being held in lieu of $4,000,000 bail.
