University student Kimi Stevenson will be putting her education on hold for 18 months while she serves at the Sao Paulo Interlagos Mission in Brazil.

“Kimi has many talents and abilities that will aid her in her service,” church officials said in an email to KHTS AM-1220. “We wish her health, success and joy as she leaves this month for the Mission Training Center in Brazil.”

Stevenson is set to address her congregation before she departs for the mission, and will speak at the Valencia Ward Sacrament Meeting on May 8, which begins at 1 p.m.

Vanessa Munoz returned home last month after serving a mission in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Describing her time spent there as a blessing and a privilege, Munoz noted that the mission taught her “that the Lord answers prayers and that miracles do happen.”

“I can’t express enough how grateful I am for my mission and for the blessing to have seen people change to come closer to God,” she said.

Munoz is expected to address her congregation on April 17 at the Valencia Ward Sacrament Meeting, which begins at 1 p.m.

Brigham Young University student and 2014 West Ranch High School graduate Kristina Dorough began her mission in Seoul, Korea — her mother’s birthplace — on March 23.

“Kristina has been in the Korean Branch since it was formed in 2009,” said David Dorough, her father and pre-mission branch president. “Needless to say, this was a very exciting call for her to get to learn about her heritage and learn to speak Korean.”

Dorough plans to complete her mission next year, and is expected to return home in October 2017.

  5. There is still a lot of beautiful, wonderful youth out there in this world despite all the misery we hear about.

  6. These three remarkable young women will (have done already) become fluent in a foreign language, live on her own in a foreign country, go without seeing or talking to family and friends for 18 months and communicate only through weekly emails and two phone calls the entire time. She will learn how to take care of herself in many different situations, will learn how to live with many different young women from other countries, will probably live in less-than-USA standard living quarters, go without television, rock music, movies, or any pop culture for 18 months, and learn how to sacrifice her own comforts and conveniences for those of other people. They will be transformed in ways no one could ever imagine. They will be unafraid to talk to people, selfless, kind, and caring. On a strict schedule of study, community service, church service, and proselyting, they will return home well disciplined, wise, and mature. I’m thankful and lucky enough to know them all!
