Valencia (15-4) handed Division 1 No. 1 JSerra it’s first home loss of the season yesterday, splitting a double-header down in San Jaun Capistrano.

In the first game, the Vikings late inning rally fell short in a 6-3 loss to the host; however, Valencia followed up with a thrilling 8-6 victory in the finale.

Junior Trace Eldridge did it all for the Vikings in Game 2, pitching two shutout innings in to keep the game close and helping on offense with two runs scored and an RBI on three singles.

Valencia has the rest of the week off before opening Foothill League series play against Hart (4/13).

College of the Canyons

Cougars Baseball is dominating offensively. Tuesday, the Cougars crushed LA Mission on the road, 10-2, for their ninth win in a row.

More remarkably, COC has scored 10+ runs in four consecutive games and six out of the past seven and the team is batting well over .300.

Cougars Softball is on fire, too. Winners of nine straight, they pounded Antelope Valley, 10-5 to move to 10-1 in conference play.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Los Angeles has outscored San Diego 18-0 in the first two games of the season,

Don’t look now (it’s way too early) but the Dodgers have opened the season dominant. Journeyman starter Scott Kazmir picked up where Clayon Kershaw left off, tossing six scoreless innings and allowing just one hit in the 3-0 victory.

LA goes for the opening series sweep in San Diego tonight at 6:10 pm. Fresh from the Nippon Professional Baseball Japanese league, Kenta Maeda takes the mound for the Dodgers in his first Major League Baseball start.
