Santa Clarita resident Dottie Stewart celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday afternoon.

She was born in Lancaster, Kentucky in 1916 and raised two boys on her own.

Stewart said it was “weird” to be turning 100, but she says she was “grateful.”

“I didn’t know that it would be such a big commotion to be 100 years old,” she said. “I used to hide my age. I gave up and I’m healthy.”
