“We have a high pressure system that is approaching us from the east moving west, and it looks like it’s going to be in the area early next week,” said Stuart Ceto, weather specialist for the National Weather Service, “and with that we’re going to have some off-shore breezes that are coming in.”

The air pressure is expected to raise temperatures to triple digits into early next week, Ceto said.

“Monday is looking like it’s going to be the heat peak day,” Ceto said. “But we’re definitely looking at Sunday, Monday and Tuesday being in the triple digits.”

A “cool off” is expected to start by next Wednesday or Thursday, but residents might want to prepare themselves.

“You want to do everything you can to try and limit afternoon activity, stay hydrated and find a cool spot,” Ceto said, noting that the temperature times listed below are what it will feel like “in the shade.”

“And sometimes there’s power outages,” Ceto said, referring to the stress the power grid that can affect service, “so have an alternative plan.”
