Rain and much cooler temperatures are headed to the Santa Clarita Valley.
By the weekend, the hot dry conditions are expected to transition to cooler and wetter conditions in the Santa Clarita Valley, said Rose Schoenfeld, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. (NWS).
“We have a big pattern change coming up,” Schoendfield said. “We are expecting a major cool down, temperatures will fall 6 to 12 degrees below normal by Monday. We are expecting a big plummet in those temperatures compared to what we’ve been seeing the last several several days.”
Weekend temperatures are expected to be in the lower 80s Saturday, with conditions dropping down to around 64 degrees by Monday.
Rain is expected to be moving through Santa Clarita Sunday through Tuesday, with the bulk of precipitation being Sunday into Monday, according to Schoenfeld.
“At this point, rain totals look to be anywhere from around a quarter up to an inch,” Schoenfeld said.
Rain is expected to be light to moderate, however, if isolated thunderstorms form, rain could be heavier.
The rain is associated with Hurricane Rachel.
By Wednesday, conditions will be drying out with conditions warming back up to the 70s to 80 by the following weekend.
