Santa Clarita community members gathered under the stars atop the Westfield Valencia Town Center Macy’s parking garage to raise money for the William S. Hart District Thursday night through a “Wine on the Roof” fundraiser.

“We are trying to raise funding for materials, programs, supplies and things that are not funded by state and federal tax dollars to try to provide the alternate and traditional programs and options for students that normally wouldn’t get exposed to these things,” said Richard Cohn, chairman for the WiSH Education Foundation.
Guests were able to experience music and photo opportunities on top of the parking structure while supporting the foundation.

The WiSH Foundation teamed up with Steve Lemley, a local Santa Clarita winemaker, to curate wines from his facility, which houses over 20 wineries. Most of the wines served at the event had never been sold or tasted by the public.
“We’re a local foundation that relies on the community for support,” said Cohn. “We’re looking for people to get involved and to participate in our events.”
The event was sponsored by Honu Coffee, Sweet Beams Ice Cream, Salt Creek Grille, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Bonefish Grill, Olive Terrace Bar and Grill, The Old Town Junction, Press Room, Hundred Miles, Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Co. and The Speakeasy Bakery.
For the “sister event” to the popular Cocktails on the Roof fundraiser, the WiSH Foundation has teamed up with Eve Bushman of Eve’s Wine 101, and Marlee Lauffer, President of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation, according to district officials.
“By supporting the students and the schools, you’re supporting the community,” said Cohn.
