Here is the Crime Information and Public Safety Report for Castaic for September 4-10, 2017:

9-10-17
Burglary- 28000 block of Morningside Drive.
The victim reported a blue “bass” guitar stolen from inside the building. Entry to the building was made by breaking an exterior window. The crime occurred during the early morning hours.

Coffee With The Captain
Zone 2 (Castaic/Valle Verde) will be hosting another “Coffee with the Captain” event on September 20th. This is a great opportunity to meet the new Captain, and your zone deputy, to discuss issues or concerns regarding your community. The event will take place at “IT’s A Grind” on the corner of The Old Road and Halsey Canyon. In an effort to accommodate people’s busy schedules, we will be there from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning and again from 4:00 to 6:00 in the evening.

Remember, in any community, the citizens are the first set of eyes and ears for 1st responders. It is the community who knows what “does” and “doesn’t” look right. It is you, the local citizens, who can tell who “does” and “doesn’t” belong in the area. If you see any suspicious activity, something that doesn’t look “right”, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Please be aware that many of the thefts we have seen in the past have been “Crimes of Opportunity”. Never leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle, close and lock your doors. Minimize your risk of becoming a victim.
