[view:node_ad=5]US Forest representatives exposed two giant areas where marijuana was being grown in the Los Padres National Forest, which shares its south eastern border with Santa Clarita.
The first operation took place on June 14th along Santiago Creek off Cerro Noroeste Road in Kern County.
54,000 marijuana plants were removed by roughly 40 officers from the United States Forest Service, Kern County Sheriff’s Department, Federal High Intensity Drug Area Task Force (HIDA), the California Department of Justice Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (CAMP), and the California Department of Fish and Game.
Along the plots, officers discovered extensive irrigation systems, fertilizer, and camp sites.
While no arrests were made in this case, the investigation is underway.
Another marijuana discovery was made the following day in Ventura County near the Gold Hill area. In that, 14,000 plants were removed along with similar irrigation systems.
All told, the street value of the marijuana confiscated from the forest is estimated at $306 million.
Los Padres National Forest officials also noted that two men were arrested on July 11th in connection to the Gold Hill marijuana plot.
