Perrette, who starred on the Santa Clarita-filmed series for 15 seasons as Abby Sciuto, tweeted that although she never told her story publicly, she departed “NCIS” because of “multiple physical assaults.”

In four tweets over the weekend, Perrette talked about why she hasn’t publicly discussed her reason for leaving. She said she was trying to protect the show’s crew and their jobs, referred to false stories being spread about her and blamed a “very powerful publicity ‘machine’” for keeping her silent.

She also encouraged victims to “stay safe,” and stressed that “nothing is worth your safety. Tell someone.”

Perrette tweeted, “I refused to go low, that’s why I’ve never told publicly what happened. But there are tabloid articles out there that are telling total lies about me. If you believe them? Please leave me alone. You clearly don’t know me. (Sorry guys, had to be said).”

She continued: “I feel I have to protect my crew, jobs and so many people. But at what cost? I don’t know. Just know, I’m trying to do the right thing, but maybe silence isn’t the right thing about crime. I’m… Just… ?”

Perrette has used her Twitter account to call out alleged abusers before: In October, Perrette shared a #MeToo story on the platform, where she claimed she was raped by a football player when she was 15.

“My rape led me into a series of abusive relationships, terrible self worth and self blame, dismissing a few groping incidents, allowing myself to be bullied by a powerful man for way too long in a work environment until I finally said ENOUGH,” she wrote.

CBS officials were not immediately available for comment on Tuesday afternoon.

  1. So she wants to protect her crew. Does that mean the actors who work with her? Just who are those who
assaulted you? Are they being prosecuted? I surely hope so! Get it out there so they can’t assault others.

  2. This is confusing: did she leave because of her makeup controversy conflict of interest with the station (against her contract) or physical abuse? The make up controversy i personally think is ridiculous. She has a product out there just like everyone else. Physical abuse is serious and then yes she should speak out, call those specific people out, file charges and get her butt back on the show. She was such an asset to the show. But if this is true from her then stand up for yourself like you would tell other’s to do and don’t let the bullies win. You are much better than that. I just hope that it is not the cast. This story leaves a lot of unanswered questions. So sorry to hear this from such a great show.
