‘Quantum Leap’ Reboot To Film In SCV  – May 1- May 7

Kicking off the first week of May is a variety of both new and familiar television shows filming in Santa Clarita. Television is dominating this week, including a reboot of a classic 1980s show “Quantum Leap.”

Here’s what’s filming in Santa Clarita:

Television

Quantum Leap

Thirty years after the original 1980’s series starring Scott Bakula ended, NBC renewed a reboot of “Quantum Leap” in 2022. This version stays true to the concept of the original series, following a time traveler who is lost in time and trying to make it back to his original timeline. In the meantime, the doctor must play the role of different people throughout time without interfering with the timeline.

The new series was released on NBC in 2022 and is in production for its season two. It stars actor Raymond Lee as Dr. Ben Song, the lost time traveler.

People Magazine Investigates

Investigation Discovery and People Magazine partner to re-examine some of the most high-profile crime cases in recent history. The one-hour series started in 2016 brings viewers tales of betrayal, buried secrets and unsung heroes, ripped from the pages of one of the nation’s top weekly magazines.

These stories transcended news and became part of pop culture, revealing shocking twists, new evidence, and unexpected resolutions. Interlaced within every episode are exclusive interviews with People’s journalists, archival footage, re-creations, and firsthand accounts by those closest to the investigations. There are currently 6 seasons of the show.

The Old Man

Earning 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, this television series stars Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, who absconded from the CIA and living off the grid. His peace is disrupted when an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, leading him to reconcile with his past in order to ensure his future. FBI’s Harold Harper is called on to lead the man-hunt for Chase as other trained special ops search for the man who proves to be experienced and elusive.

The FX series is available on Hulu and is filming its second season.

Good Trouble

A spin-off series of the Freeform show “The Fosters,” this show follows Foster sisters Callie and Mariana in Los Angeles. The two sisters face trials and tribulations with new neighbors and new romances as they navigate the world after college.

Mariana tackles the male-dominated world of tech, and Callie faces the harsh realities of the legal system as she clerks for a federal judge. Produced by Jennifer Lopez and starring Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez.

Mayans MC

Airing in 2018 and with four seasons, Mayans MC follows the life of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, a newly patched member of the Mayans M.C. charter on the California/Mexico border. Once a golden boy with the American Dream within his grasp, EZ and his brother Angel are closer than ever after uncovering the truth behind their mother’s murder.

Faced with carving out a new identity for himself in his small town, EZ’s need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended. Meanwhile, their father Felipe struggles to reconcile the choices he and his sons have made.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
