Shoppers Call 9-1-1 For Line Cutting At Canyon Country Costco

Shoppers at the Canyon Country Costco called 9-1-1 after people were reportedly cutting in line, officials said.

Around 9:45 a.m., deputies received reports of a fight at the Costco on Via Princessa, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“They described multiple groups of people fighting outside the store,” Miller said.

Deputies treated it as an emergency call; however, when they arrived on scene, they found out no people were fighting, Miller said.

“The person called because customers were cutting in line,” Miller said.

Sheriff’s officials are strongly discouraging people from calling 9-1-1 for line cutting, because it takes valuable resources away from other emergency situations, Miller added.

  1. Whoever called should have been arrested for misuse of the 911 system. What a moron!

    • I agree, wake up people. I don’t know about the rest of the people here but I have indoor water and can always find something to use in the bathroom. Really I hope they arrested or ticketed the moron who called.

  2. How does buying toilet paper and bottle water help “prepare for coronavirus?”

Please don’t spread rumors or panic.

    • I suspect that standing in a line for a while possibly in the rain is a good way for you to actually catch a coronavirus.

    • I agree. I don’t understand why the race for water especially! ! This isn’t an earthquake, with pipes broken, contamination and such! What’s the point of that?? Tap water is and will be just fine! With the lack of toilet paper, though, while not having anything directly to do with the Coronavirus, since it is an everyday necessity and very hard to find now, it’s a problem, as you don’t wanna be left to use your bare hand! Don’t think I’ve ever seen this desperation to get TP before! Welp, there’s a first for everything! But it is very discouraging to see a lack of hand sanitizer around, since we need that to help stop the spread of the disease from person to person and objects to person! Not to mention the items to MAKE it like isopropyl and aloe vera gel! The price gouging and just people taking advantage of the situation and jacking up the prices for those things is completely asinine IMO! Look at EBay or Amazon right now and see the ridiculous amounts they want for these things! Sad…… Gotta admit, though, our leaders are dropping the ball here big-tome by not shooting it straight, but what do you expect from these losers? Elect a Clown, expect a Circus! They’re more concerned about their money than people! When it’s all said and done, when we tally up all the amount of people who will die unnecessarily, we’ll be talking about how they blew it for decades! Idiots! Let’s try something different later this year, and use your BRAINS when you go to vote this November!

  3. I heard a few employees there have the coronavirus, enjoy your toilet paper! Now you’ll really need it!

    • Stop spreading unfounded rumors, this misinformation spreads and stupid people panic. This is what lack of leadership, transparency and ineptness looks like.

      • True, Liberal media grabbing ineptness, by most of the media(s) lead the foolish sheep into the horrible condition we’re in from Seattle to San Diego!! They’re clever lies/deception easily fools the masses of cretins!! Moral/social degradation by Liberals!!

  4. I didn’t know Costco had residents…LOL!

  5. Disappointed in humanity

I remember my first swine/bird/sars flu scare. SMH

  6. Soon there will be much greater risk of being trampled to death trying to get toilet paper at Costco – versus death rate from the coronavirus!!!

  7. I agree that whoever called 911 should be arrested for abusing that system. I moved to this area in the 70’s , and am shocked at how people have changed. What kind of people empty the stores of toilet paper, water and sanitizer. People are behaving like animals from a “B” horror movie. That’s disgusting and those who are participating in that behavior should be ashamed at the very least.

  8. That is why Canyon Country is now referred to as Compton Country

    • Why, was it gentrified with angry poor white people? The caliber of society has declined and it’s not a skin color thing, neither is ignorance apparently.

    • First of all, Not everyone who lives in Canyon Country is Ghetto. Plus there are some nice parts of Compton too. anyway, the media is the cause of all of this panic, not only are Canyon Country residents go to Costco, all of Santa Clarita shops there. Stop the madness people, be considerate to others and I hope this will teach everyone a lesson that corona is not the only thing in life that we should worry about. We live in a state of Earthquakes fires etc. preparedness is nothing we should be rushing, clearing stores and fighting. This is unreasonable behavior for any human being.

  9. People please use your common sense. Be adults. Set better examples. There will be enough toilet paper, food, hand sanitizer and medication for all. Instead of fighting about it in long frustrating lines….try ordering online. Let us all treat each other more respectfully and neighborly. Also, the world has been through sooo many pandemics. Remember even polio and measles were pandemic. So was bubonic plague in the 70s. Peace Out! Love love love.

    • I think you need to check the prices online now for the items being hoarded yourself! The prices being asked are nothing short of outrageous! If you’re rich and don’t mind paying $40 for 4 or 6 rolls of toilet paper, which are now being sold on the roadside, go for it! Power to ya! ? The rest of us are having a hard time dealing with all this!

  10. I was there as people were being let inside. I did not see any fighting, but I did in fact notice panic behaviors and a selfish rudeness. Panic does not help make rational decisions. I did a lot of observation as I calmly bought a few items and avoided the hassles of water. My tap water is just fine. Keep your heads up. NOTICE. Situational awareness is key right now when out in public especially with rise in crime in SCV just the last few months “before” the virus panic.

  11. Sheeple are stupid. They allowed themselves to be duped into this pandemic by a ratings driven media too worried about the next “big story” than the truth.

To those sheep buying up “supplies” you really need to stop blindly following the glowing box and think for yourselves.

Remember this those that hype the illness are the same that sell the cure.

  12. This is an emergency and it’s time for open carry.

  13. My brothers are plumbers, call them just in case of a broken water pipe.. good luck and god bless you all

  14. For all those idiots that have not done their research the chances of dying from the Coronavirus is less than one percent. More people die from the common flu yearly. This is just a way of getting people to panic..but what can you expect elections are just around the corner .
PS for those idiots standing in the cold rain jokes on you Coronavirus loves cold temperatures LOL .. suckers!!

    • Liz: Truth/facts/abnormal behavior glorified!! A shame sheep don’t learn!! We all should have back-up for normal & possible problems! What about gas hoarding?! Media induced/continued hysteria is not helping society, only their ratings!!

  15. Just a joke not spreading rumors. Stupid Costco 911 caller jailed.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
