Chyll Rolled Creamery And Boba Closes Without Notice, Employees Reportedly Not Paid

The Chyll Rolled Creamery and Boba locations in Castaic and Valencia abruptly closed Saturday night, and employees allege that they did not receive any notice and their checks have not cleared.

On Saturday night, as the Chyll Rolled Creamery and Boba locations in Castaic and Valencia closed for the night, employees were reportedly notified by a message from the owners that they had just worked their last shift, as the business was closing permanently, according to Allison Lederer, a former employee of the restaurant.

“We got paid Friday and I was out of town,” Lederer said. “And the ones who had gotten their check, they bounced.”

The owner of the two locations then sold the Valencia Chyll location, which has since been reopened and is in escrow, according to officials.

The original owner of the store then reportedly reached out to the Valencia staff to return to work under new ownership.

“They all had one condition,” Lederer said. “They would go back if they were being paid.”

Even though the two stores were originally owned by the same owner, they are being sold separately, according to officials.

Currently, the Castaic Chyll location is still closed, and if it reopens, Lederer says she has no interest in going back.

“Even if they were to reopen, I wouldn’t want to go back even with new ownership,” Lederer said.

The original owner of the businesses was unable to comment as of Thursday afternoon. A manager of the Valencia location confirmed it has reopened under new ownership.
