The company provides secure data destruction services for a variety of media– from paper to electronics to plastics –with regular and one-time pick-up, drop-off and witnessed destruction services available.

“Identity theft right now is the largest increasing number of crime incidents across the nation– potentially across the world,” said Steve Sturgeon, the owner of Confidential Data Destruction Company. “Stolen identities in terms of your checkbooks, your social security numbers, your credit card numbers and the like is something hackers and thieves will look to obtain.”

Many individuals and business owners may not realize that outdoor trash cans are considered public property, and identity thieves often obtain critical information from things that have been thrown away, according to Sturgeon.

“What you put in your trash can, anybody can pilfer through, whether that’s at your home or at your office in the back,” he said.

In addition to destruction of paper documents, Confidential Data Destruction Company also destroys electronic media like hard drives, floppy disks, zip drives and anything that has data stored on it, a like lap top.

A high level of security comes with all data destruction services to safeguard information, including a television screen on the external side of a mobile shredding vehicle that shows the client what’s happening internally.

Clients with more than 10 boxes of data at their home or office would generally utilize the company’s mobile services, while smaller amount of data can be brought to the facility in Valencia.

The company currently partners with the city of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to put on a “Safe Shred” event for the community twice a year, and also works with mail centers that accept materials for destruction.

Confidential Data Destruction Company was established as an electronic destruction company in Santa Clarita in 1995, and started offering paper destruction services as well about eight years ago.
