Construction on the project is expected to be completed and the bridge re-opened by mid-September.

Residents should expect delays during construction.

During Friday’s construction, which begins at 10:00 p.m. and is expected to end at 8:30 a.m., a full road closure of McBean Parkway between Del Monte Drive and Arroyo Park Drive will be required in order to install the new bridge. Electronic message boards and detour signs will be posted to inform motorists of upcoming closures. Reduced speed through the construction zone will be enforced for the safety of the public and the contractor’s employees.

Most of the remaining construction will take place between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Temporary lane closures will continue to be necessary during construction and other work may need to be completed during night hours as well.

The City of Santa Clarita thanks community members in advance for their understanding and support of this project. All measures will be taken to complete the project in a safe and timely manner.

  1. And what about the bridge that is supposed to go in at Golden Valley Road and Sierra Hiway? Why not try something new and install it before school starts.

And please tell me why for years the Senior Center and Canyon Country Community Center has been discussed and land purchased however nothing has been done on either site. BUT we see the construction on the Laemmel property is going after only one year of discussion. Come on City Council, get your priorities straight. So disappointed in you people.

    • Hi Shar I’m sure you agree that pedestrian bridges near schools are a priority. I am tired of kids being hit by cars on their way to and from school while walking across busy intersections. Pedestrian safety is grossly being overlooked in the road expansion plans for this city. Kids matter. I want to do something about it. I’m writing to our city manager and calling on representatives. We as a community need to ask for the pedestrian bridges that will protect our most vulnerable citizens. Join me in calling on the city directly to ask for pedestrian bridges to improve pedestrian safety.
