Damian’s ‘Not-So-Haunted House’ And Bake Sale Now Open

#SaveDamian has opened the doors to the “Not-So-Haunted House” during select days until Halloween to raise funds for the “Please Save Damian Campaign.”

The “Not-So-Haunted House” is scheduled to be open Oct. 26-28 and 30-31 from 5pm – 8pm.The child-friendly walk-through maze that features familiar Disney characters and is built to replicate the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.

“We basically converted our two car garage into a ‘not-so-haunted’ walkthrough.” said Brittany Markham, Damian’s mother. “So if you’re ever been on the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland, this is kind of a ‘de-spookified’ version of that with more classic Disney characters.”

Markham, a theme park designer, collaborated with other designers and friends to bring the attraction to life. The maze includes effects, props, and animated elements. Madame Minnie is an animated attraction animated by Markham herself.

“My favorite part is Madame Minnie, a spin-off of Madame Leota in the Haunted Mansion, inside of a crystal ball,” said Markham. “[She] tells guests that she sees a sweet surprise in their future if they knock on a polka dot door, and behind a polka dot door a little further on there’s some trick-or-treat candy.”

The event also features a bake sale outside where guests can purchase Halloween themed baked goods. Proceeds from the sale directly benefit the “Please Save Damian Campaign.”

Damian Markham was born with Acid Sphingomyelinase Deficiency (ASMD), often referred to as “baby’s Alzheimer’s.” Damian suffers from the most severe form of the disease that causes loss of muscle mass, as well as rapid neurodegeneration that is linked to premature death before the age of five.

The “Please Save Damian Campaign” aims to expedite the development timeline of a potential life-saving treatment. The GoFundMe has raised over one million dollars of the three million dollar goal.

The “Not-So-Haunted House” is located at 24709 Airville Avenue, Newhall 91321.
