The Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA) is set to feature Chuck Kavacic, a plein air oil painter, Nov. 20 for the SCAA monthly meeting.
This meeting is set to take place at 28201 Northpark Drive from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
After acquiring a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with a minor in painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art, Kavacic directed campaigns for a variety of print and media clients and detailed urban revitalization programs for communities participating in the “Main Street” program sponsored by the National Trust For Historic Preservation.
In addition to taking part in plein air events in Ohio, Alameda, San Luis Obispo, Mendocino, San Dimas, Sonomaa and Ohio, Kovacic has been invited to participate in art programs in Switzerland, Provence, China and Scotland.
He concentrated his artistic abilities as a restoration specialist specializing in early merchandising ephemera and related antiques after moving to Southern California.
His varied passions helped him to build a scale replica of the renowned detective Sherlock Holmes’ sitting room.
Some of Kovacic’s other accomplishments include:
- Recipient of the 2016 California Art Club (CAC) “William and Julia Bracken Wendt Award”
- In 2017 was named to Signature status in the California Art Club
Along with those accolades, Kovacic is an Honor Court member of the Mid-Valley Art League and is a frequent exhibitor at the CAC’s annual Gold Medal show as well as their Old Mill Gallery in San Marino.
On top of that Kovacic is a Signature member of the CAC, a Signature member of the Laguna Plein Air Artists Association and a member of the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society.
